Aphasia Project

Aphasia is a loss of the ability to produce and/or comprehend language, due to injury to the brain. Brain damage can be caused by TBI, stroke, or other head injury. Aphasia interactive software has been developed to simulate the use of the brain throughout repetition.

The Heart Of A Marine Foundation is committed to assisting VA hospitals and rehab facilities that serve vets receive the best tools for treatment.

The Heart Of A Marine Foundation is initiating a comprehensive project to assist in the rehabilitation of military personnel and veterans with TBI and stroke. The vision of the Heart Of A Marine Foundation is to provide computers and Aphasia Software to polytrauma units within Veteran Administration Hospitals nationwide.

The Heart Of A Marine Foundation has donated Aphasia rehabilitative software as well as desktop and laptop computers to Veteran Administration Hospitals nationwide. As of 2009, the following have been delivered:

  • Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, Hines, Illinois:
    • 15 desktops, 5 laptops and 20 clinical package suites of Aphasia software
  • Minneapolis VA Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota:
    • 5 laptops and 20 clinical package suites of Aphasia software
  • Palo Alto VA Hospital, Palo Alto, California:
    • 5 laptops and 10 clinical package suites of Aphasia software
  • McGuire VA Hospital, Richmond Virginia:
    • 5 llaptops and 10 clinical package suites of Aphasia software
  • James A. Haley VA Hospital, Tampa Florida:
    • 4 laptops and 22 clinical package suites of Aphasia software
  • North Chicago VA Medical Center Home, North Chicago, Illinois:
    • 10 laptops and 10 clinical package suites of Aphasia software
